- The work had originally been composed for the New York Chamber Soloists (Mel Kaplan, director; Albert Fuller, harpsichord), for their Spring 1959 European tour. The work was never performed in Europe. There is also a version of this work for solo piano with oboe and string orchestra. Wuorinen does not consider that to be a separate work.
