I composed my Fanfare for Rutgers University in 1986 as an introduction to a fund raising dinner which was held at the Meadowlands in the fall of that year. I conducted the first performance on that occasion. The piece is a simple two-minute exploration of conventional brass fanfare gestures, all organized according to my usual harmonic principles. It is an unproblematic instance of What You Hear is What You Get.
