Charles Wuorinen’s TROMBONE TRIO - for Trombone, Mallet Instruments (Marimba and Vibraphone) and Piano - was written between June 1 and July 22, 1985. It was commissioned by the trombonist Ronald Borror, to whom it is dedicated, for performance with Parnassus. Cast in the form of a single movement, the work is 8 minutes long. Certain time lengths in the piece are reflective of the proportion known as the golden section.
